Inside Out 2

Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust have been running a successful operation by all accounts. However, when Anxiety shows up, they aren’t sure how to feel.
Hot take. I hate the first inside out movie. Now in hindsight, it’s probably not as bad as I remember. I remember watching it in the theater when I was nine. And being annoyed because I thought Joy was the most annoying character ever. I also remember being annoyed because Anger and Fear weren’t in it enough and of course being mad that they killed off Bing Bong (that one is valid though) So when they first announced the sequel… I didn’t care. Then when the marketing started and I saw the first teaser and did become more excited, thinking that this movie could be the version of the first one I wish they made. With all the emotions teaming up together, instead of just joy and sadness. I’m proud to say that’s exactly what this film is.

This movie is great. All the emotions are awesome together, it’s funny, Anxiety is a great villain and they way they present puberty in this movie is both funny and thought provoking, they also do use the characters living inside Riley’s head to full effect, whether it’s running into her secret video game crush, or darkest secret it’s pretty smart how they do all of it. Also Joy isn’t annoying this time! For real though she actually has a great scene where she talks more about her mentality and it’s actually again very thought provoking and good. Also this movie does a great job of having something minor like Riley getting into a hockey team feel like the end of the world if she doesn’t, just like how I was a kid similar things felt like the end of the world. It’s a very relatable film and that’s what I think make it truly great.
I really don’t have any negatives for it, I really loved it.
So Inside Out 2 did the impossible, make me give a shit about this franchise. JK Seriously this is a great movie that takes a funny, interesting, and emotional (see what I did there) look into the most awkward time of everyone’s life.
