The Rip

Trust frays when a team of Miami cops discovers millions in cash inside a run-down stash house, calling everyone — and everything — into question

I have been exited about the Rip since I first saw the trailer during Netflix’s tudum event. I mean Ben Affleck and Matt Damon working together! What could go wrong. And as we got closer to the release date and more trailers came out I kept getting more and more excited for it, to the point where I couldn’t wait to watch this movie. And now that I have, I can safely saw this movie is a total banger. The Rip (2026) directed by Joe Carnahan • Reviews, film + cast • Letterboxd

The story is so good is kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, there are so many twists and turns throughout the movie it will totally have you constantly wondering “Well this guy is a dirty cop! Or wait is he? No he is? I don’t know” the movie will make you think stuff like that and it’s really fun to watch it while trying to figure out who is dirty, who isn’t, and what’s gonna happen.  The whole cast is great, with  Ben Affleck and Matt Damon being standouts and working off each other really well. Stephen Yuen is also great and Kyle Chandler, Teyana Taylor, and Catalino Sandino Moreno are round out the cast nicely too. The directing is phenomenal and certain scenes are shot so well, and the score is also very good as well.

If I were to pick out some negatives, I will say that one of the reveals doesn’t fell very earned. While the others feel built up and make sense one of them doesn’t. Also the movie has this mystery that sort of overlooks the movie and honestly about halfway through the movie feels like it just forgets about it and by the time it goes back to it it just falls flat because I just didn’t really care about it because the movie felt like it didn’t care about it either.

Overall I really loved The Rip. It is such a cool, tense, and well done thriller with an awesome cast, a great story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I just wished this movie went to theaters.
