Wicked: For Good

Now demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba lives in exile in the Ozian forest, while Glinda resides at the palace in Emerald City, reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, she’ll need to reunite with Glinda to transform herself, and all of Oz, for good.
So the first wicked movie is was not something I thought I was going to be into. I watched the trailer and didn’t think I would care about witches and songs in oz and most of all, I’m very tired of villain movies.

There have been so many of them the pastcouple of years like Morbius and Kraven and don’t get me wrong I like some of them like Venom but I mean seriously who asked for Maleficient and Cruella movies? (For real those movies suck) So I was skeptical when I watched the first Wicked movie but I walked out actually loving it!

And so was very excited about this follow up. But I did hear that it was more divisive that the first. I saw many critics saying it was incredibly disappointing. So that did worry me a bit but I was still very excited to watch this movie and not that I have, I can safely say I don’t understand the hate this movie has, because I loved it.

This movie totally sticks the landing to end this two movie saga now for the record I have never the seen the play or read the book I had only seen this first movie going into this one. But I really did love this movie, all the performances are spectacular Ariana Grande-Butera, and Cynthia Erivo both deliver incredible performances. I also loved how Jeff Goldblum had more to do in this movie since I thought he was underused in the first one. While the rest of the cast is great too.

The director Jon M. Chu does a great job once again recements himself as a very talented director. I think almost all of the songs are great especially the ones at the end and again Ariana Grande does such a good job with the vocals they are so good. The dancing and choreography are great too as well as a lot of the technical things like the VFX, costumes, and production design are excellent.

However I do have some negatives there are some truly insane and dumb character choices that i just don’t think make sense (I’ll talk about this more in the spoilers section) I also think there is one particular actor who is completely wasted in this movie. I also didn’t think a lot of the early songs were very good in the beginning of the movie, and also in the beginning they did not know how to manage the time in between songs. Seriously I know it’s a musical, and I like musicals but seriously in the beginning there’s like crappy song five minutes crappy song, I just wished they space it out a bit more like the back half of the movie which worked way better than the first half

SPOILERS
So the character thing I was talking about was how I think it’s dumb how obsessed Nessa becomes with Bock like in the first she’s super nice but in this she immediately becomes a dictator once he dumps her and I just don’t think that makes sense, while also finding that really dumb. I also wish we got more of the Cowardly Lion especially with 2 time Academy Award Nominee Colman Dolmingo to play him. It’s just weird you get that talented of an actor and give him TWO LINES!!!! That is just so dumb.
But overall I really did love Wicked: For Good. I think it did a great job of ending the story and giving it a satisfying ending while still having great songs and performances and incredible visuals that really make you feel like you’re in this world.
